GKN presents the new generation of the ICVD drive

On a stepless path to success
At bauma 2007 (Hall A5, Stand 325/430) GKN Walterscheid presents the latest model in the ICVD range of continuously variable hydrostatic travel drives. It was developed especially for use in self-propelled agricultural and construction machinery. With the ICVD, which stands for Integrated Continuously Variable Drive, it is possible to drive through the entire speed range without interrupting the tractive force.
Easier operation for the driver
Self-propelled agricultural and construction machinery, such as wheel loaders and telescopic loaders, forestry machines, combine harvesters or also choppers not only have to generate high tractive forces, but in certain applications must also be capable of covering longer distances at the highest possible speed.
In the past both of these functions have been realised by hydrostatic drives with manual gearboxes. In practice this concept has proven to be less than ideal because the machine usually has to come to a standstill to change gears, an inconvenient and time-consuming procedure.
Continuous variability is called for here in practice, with a variable drive concept and considerably easier operation for the driver.
