GKN Land Systems took EIMA 2010 as an opportunity to present a number of new products for the first time at a trade fair in Italy / Advanced developments in the field of hitch and driveline technology

On the occasion of EIMA 2010 in Bologna, GKN Land Systems exhibited a range of new products and advanced developments in the field of hitch and driveline technology. This is above all the response of GKN Land Systems to the trend towards ever-higher machine powers and larger working widths.

The information offering focused on the new ServicePlus concept from GKN Walterscheid, which was introduced for all PTO drive shafts in the middle of the year.

In addition to having ecological advantages – due to the use of less lubricant, for example – this system first and foremost significantly reduces the amount of work involved, as well as the risk of stoppages and downtimes.

Première: Greatly expanded range of implement-side drawbar devices

The demands on hitch systems have increased considerably in recent years. Higher trailer loads and vertical loads, as well as new hitch types, are increasingly establishing themselves in European farming. 

At EIMA, GKN Walterscheid presented a greatly expanded product range for implement-side hitch concepts. For example, one of the new products exhibited by GKN Walterscheid was the Zotek-50 trailer ring.

The ring is produced by drop forging. It can be welded, is characterised by high strength and a correspondingly long service life, and has a compact design that makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.

In addition, GKN Walterscheid introduced a newly expanded interchangeable trailer socket system. It is designed to be able to cover a wide range of applications on the implement side, using just a few standard components.

The new trailer socket system offers benefits in terms of the replacement of trailer sockets in the event of wear. It makes it possible to also use trailer rings for clevis-type couplings, while retaining the same surrounding structure.

With more than 60 products, GKN Walterscheid now covers virtually every field of application.

A common feature of all products is their high quality standard. All hitch systems have successfully gone through in-house quality management. In most cases, the components were subjected to complete fatigue testing. This ensures compliance with the fundamental prerequisite for homologation for purposes of official licensing and approval.
