Come see us at BAUMA 2010 Hall A6, Booth 418B
"Technology first!" – this is the motto chosen by GKN Land Systems, the world's leading manufacturer of drive and attachment systems used in agriculture and the construction machinery industry, for its presentation at the bauma 2010 trade show. The trade fair focuses on a great variety of newly created and further developed drive technology designs used in construction machinery. This document will give you an overview of all our activities and new products that will be showcased at bauma 2010:
Continuously variable is the name of the game
True to this motto, GKN Land Systems will be presenting the newest models of its ICVD® hydrostatic travel drive. This drive was developed in cooperation with Sauer Bibus and is designed for self-propelled construction machines.
The use of infinitely variable drive system is becoming increasingly common in the industry for construction as it offers a great number of benefits for practical use. Apart from providing increased convenience and efficiency, these drive systems, first and foremost, help lower fuel consumption and generate significantly less noise.
The ICVD® from GKN Land Systems makes it possible to drive the machine continuously at any speed within the possible range without any interruption of traction.
At this year's bauma GKN Land Systems will be showcasing drive solutions for wheel loaders (for instance, Kramer), special loaders (Sennebogen), telehandlers (Dieci, JCB) and municipal utility vehicles (Vredo).
Mechanics® drive shafts for use in construction machines
Another focus for GKN Land Systems's booth at bauma 2010 are the company's special Mechanics® drive shafts. Heavy and rotating at high speeds, these drive shafts made for the industry of construction machinery are capable of transmitting up to 55,000 Nm and offer a service life that is second to none.
On the occasion of this year's bauma GKN Land Systems will be presenting the Mechanics® 20-C Type series which features the most powerful drive shafts for construction machines that are available on the global market today. It sets itself apart by its short installation length as well as its maximum torque capacity of 55,000 Nm and is used in vehicles with a load capacity of 380 tons. Since early 2010, these drive shafts, which have been produced for the European market, are now also made in (Bruneck/Italy).
Rockford® Clutch - fuel savings thanks to variable speed technology
GKN Land Systems will also be presenting its latest series of Rockford fan clutches. The 370 series is intended for applications on a larger scale and is the latest addition to the Rockford® Clutch product family.
These high-performance fan clutches set a new standard when it comes to lowering fuel consumption and reducing fan noises. They provide for an extended service life of engine and belt and, thus, for increased productivity.
One of the properties the Rockford® Clutch series of fan clutches can boast is its special variable speed technology. Its ability to alter the fan speed allows this fan clutch to react to any changes in the engine's cooling requirements.
This ability is achieved by an independent control system or the ECM system used in modern high-tech engines. The new 370 series was developed to meet the cooling requirements of construction machinery used for heavy-duty applications.
The clutches are designed for fan capacities from 50 to 300 hp and speeds ranging from 100 to 2,000 rpm. They can be used in combination with engines with an output of up to 4,000 hp.
Premier for special rims used in the mining industry
As the world's leading manufacturer of off-highway rims, GKN Wheels is proud to present at this year's bauma a new series of special rims intended for use in the mining industry. Available in sizes ranging from 45 to 63 inches, the wheels are the perfect addition to the existing range of rims offered by GKN Land Systems.
These new rims are the product of entirely new design methods. Their development is based on the utilization of comprehensive computer simulation models. This makes it possible, for example, to use the rims on transport vehicles that are deployed in surface mining operations as well as in mines handling loads of up to 400 tons.
